Resulta curioso descubrir a un grupo como éste en un festival en México. Antes del Festival del Centro Histórico en el DF, no tenía idea de que existían y mucha gente a mi lado tampoco; sin embargo, estos eventos generalmente nos presentan propuestas interesantes. El secreto para descubrirlas es darse la oportunidad de escuchar.
Madsen es una banda que lo tiene todo y esto no significa que sean los músicos más excelsos que he escuchado, pero saben combinar los elementos necesarios, los cuales van desde buenas canciones hasta eso que algunos llaman actitud, para sembrar en el público la curiosidad de escucharlos. Aunque su música es una mezcla de punk con rock y pop, poseen un sonido propio que –aunado al carisma de su vocalista– les ha brindado la oportunidad de participar en festivales como el Nova Rock.
Un plus que los caracteriza es el hecho de que canten en su lengua natal y no en inglés, como la mayoría de los grupos hoy. Sus letras no están casadas con la anarquía punk ni con la ñoñería pop, algunos de sus temas tiene mensajes más bien optimistas que invitan a mantenerse fiel a uno mismo.
Esta banda proviene de Priesseck, Alemania, y está formada por Sebastian Madsen (voz/guitarra); Johannes Madsen (guitarra); Sasha Madsen (batería); Folkert Jahnke (teclado) y Niko Maurer (bajo); como seguramente ya lo adivinaron, el nombre deriva del apellido de tres de los integrantes, quienes obviamente son hermanos.

En 2004 firmaron con Universal Music y su álbum debut homónimo apareció en el 2005. En agosto de 2006, lanzaron su segundo disco, Goodbye Logik, mismo que denotaba un crecimiento sonoro que se fusionaba con su madurez como agrupación, lo que le dio a su estilo una perceptible definición, la cual queda asentada en su más reciente producción: Krieg im Frieden (2008).
Madsen no es una de esas propuestas elaboradoras por intelectualoides de café que pretenden revolucionar al mundo o por virtuosos incomprendidos que buscan medios de expresión. Se trata de un proyecto jaranero, bien hecho, que no por ser divertido y aparentemente ligero resulta vacuo.
