Lo cierto es que este sexteto neoyorquino hace una música que si bien no puede calificarse de absolutamente original, si tiene un toque distintivo. Tal vez sea el uso de dos bateristas y de un piano con funciones más percusivas que armónicas, tal vez sea el estilo de sus composiciones, con un gran énfasis en los beats de los tambores. El asunto es que luego de un espléndido primer disco (Fort Nightly, 2007), estos singulares Conejos blancos regresan con It’s Frightening y lejos de desmerecer lo que hicieron hace dos años, lo repiten y lo mejoran, gracias a la calidad de cada uno de los diez temas que conforman a este larga duración. Desde el primer corte, el sorprendente “Percussion Gun” (ver video), una de las mejores canciones del año a mi modo de ver (tan buena como la contagiosa “Kid on My Shoulders” de su album anterior), White Rabbits nos hace saber que estamos ante una agrupación desafiante, con una propuesta enérgica que mana lo mismo del rock de los setenta que del music hall, del reggae que del math rock. Un disco lleno de inventiva y fuerza.
