Lennon es uno de los grandes músicos del siglo XX, y las letras de sus canciones reflejan sus propias ideas. Él se dedicó a hacer música sincera y directa, con gran calidad tanto con los Beatles como solista.
Claro que tuvo millones y cometió excesos, ¿y qué?, ¿Bob Dylan y muchos otros no?

En cuanto a resaltar "defectos" eres muy bueno. Pero se te olvida también decir todas las contribuciones que hizo al mundo de la música, y no sólo eso, a la cultura popular del siglo XX y XXI a través de su trinchera musical y activista.
No hay que predicar con el ejemplo literalmente. Tener un departamento de lujo no está peleado con las causas a favor de las clases trabajadoras. Su contribución se desarrollaba de otro modo y creo que no no hay mucho que reprocharle en el ámbito musical. Recuerdo que por muchos años, en la barda que da hacia Barranca del Muerto de la Liga Maya de Beisbol, había un montón de dibujos. Graffitis si se quiere. John Lennon al igual que muchos otros personajes evenemenciales tuvieron un efecto para resaltar en los años en los cuales se desenvolvieron, obviamente tambien a la par de ser un personaje evenemencial, marco una historia de larga duracion y por demás sobresaliente en la musica contemporanea, no hay que demeritar sus logoros o desatinos, simplemente hay que saber reconocer cuando alguien destaca en su campo y no simplemente atacar como se ha venido haciendo, cada quien es creativo en su propio medio o corriente...no hay comparaciones ente unos y otros, simplemente diversidad...

Claro que Lennon fue un mùsico importantìsimo eso no se discute, sin embargo considero que Zappa fue màs creativo que Lennon; me pregunto si muchos de los que critican a Zappa realmente lo han escuchado, no creo los beatlemaniacos lo aguanten, es demasiado para ellos.

A todos los "exquisitos enanos" que tratan de sobresalir en cualquier asunto sobre Lennon o Los Beatles, minimizandolos: mi mas profunda lastima. Pero bueno sigan educandonos con sus profundos conocimientos musicales aunque no tengan ni la minima idea de lo que hablan.

Como fan de la música de los Beatles (ojo: dije fan no enloquezco por sus nuevos compilados, ni quiero tener toda su memorabilia, no me chuto hasta el hartazgo sus discos) a veces me abruma toooda la atención que se le da a Lennon. Un gran músico y mejor ser humano. Como bien dicen, los Beatles no son Lennon ni Lennon los Beatles. Por lo demás, hubo mejores músicos y más comprometidos con el mundo a su manera, sin la pose característica de John Ono: ahí está Mr. Strummer por ejemplo. Y sí, mi Beatle favorito siempre será Harrison.
